About the Role
We are seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated Academic Head of Year to join our vibrant Secondary School. As a key member of our school community, you will be responsible for fostering a supportive and engaging environment for students, helping them to thrive academically and socially.
The successful candidate will oversee a cohort of students, ensuring not only their academic success but also their personal growth and emotional well-being. You will collaborate closely with teachers, parents, and support staff to create effective strategies that promote student achievement and attendance.
Your leadership will empower students to take ownership of their learning journey while building a strong sense of community within the year group. Key Responsibilities
- Lead and support a year group, ensuring each student is known and valued.
- Develop and implement initiatives that promote positive student behavior and well-being.
- Monitor academic progress and attendance of students, developing strategies for improvement when necessary.
- Communicate effectively with parents and guardians, providing regular updates on student performance.
- Organize and coordinate year group events and activities that enhance learning and community spirit.
- Work collaboratively with teachers to ensure a consistent approach to student support and welfare.
- Foster a safe and inclusive classroom environment where all students feel empowered to participate.
Requirements
- A degree in Education, Psychology, or a related field.
- Previous experience in a similar role within the education sector.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills to engage effectively with students, staff, and parents.
- Proven ability to lead and motivate a team of educators and other support staff.
- Demonstrated commitment to student welfare and holistic education.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail in planning and executing year-level activities.
- A genuine passion for education and a desire to make a significant impact in the lives of students.
