Your responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage an operational structure across three key locations, overseeing Business Managers, Transfer Station Managers, industry specialists, and operational staff.
  • Drive business development and growth initiatives, ensuring operational excellence and service delivery across a diverse customer portfolio while collaborating with the senior leadership team.
  • Guide and mentor Business Managers, working closely with Commercial Managers to implement the commercial strategy safely and effectively, maximizing profitability and enhancing customer service.
  • Establish strong working relationships across various functions, including Fleet, Customer Services, Sales, Risk and Assurance, HR, and Finance, to ensure efficient operational processes and compliance.
  • Develop and execute short-term (0-6 months) and medium-term strategies for the area, securing engagement from key stakeholders.
  • Achieve commercial success metrics, including first-time collection rates, recovery collections, bin deliveries, proactive communication, invoice accuracy, and call handling performance.
  • Assist the Commercial Strategy Manager in the implementation of national projects focused on sustainability, efficiency, and growth.
  • Support Business Managers in achieving regional objectives aimed at promoting sustainability, efficiency, growth, and employee engagement.

Qualifications:

  • IOSH Managing Safely certification.
  • Level 5 Leadership & Management qualification or equivalent experience.
  • Strong business acumen and operational management background.
  • Experience in financial management, including the creation and presentation of financial models and business plans.
  • Transport Manager CPC qualification.
  • Proven ability to manage projects involving multiple stakeholders.
  • Experienced leader with a track record of driving high performance.
  • Background in leading transformation and change initiatives.
  • Strategic thinker with a solution-oriented mindset, capable of implementing and embedding strategies within the organization.
