We are seeking a skilled Design Technology Technician to join our team at a secondary school in the Wellingborough area of Northamptonshire. The successful candidate will provide technical support to both teachers and students, ensuring a smooth and efficient learning environment in the DT department.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare materials and equipment for lessons, including wood, metal, and plastic, using appropriate hand tools and machinery.
  • Set up and check machinery, equipment, and apparatus for teaching purposes.
  • Issue equipment, tools, components, and materials to teaching staff and students, maintaining accurate records.
  • Provide technical advice and assistance to teaching staff and students.
  • Design and make simple models and teaching aids.
  • Assist with maintenance and repair of equipment, including machinery, tools, and ICT resources.
  • Ensure health and safety standards are met and report any faults to the supervisor/manager.
Requirements
  • Experience in a technical support role, preferably in a school setting.
  • Strong technical skills, including knowledge of hand tools and machinery.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Flexibility to work varying hours, including term time and occasional evenings.
