Position Overview

The Lead Test Centre Engineer plays a crucial role within the Test Centre team, reporting directly to the Test Centre Manager. This position is integral to the GL Test Centre group, providing essential engineering and testing support along with technical expertise.

Key Responsibilities
  • Daily Operations: Assist the Test Centre Manager in overseeing the daily functions of the Test Centre.
  • Deputy Role: Act as the deputy to the Test Centre Manager when necessary.
  • Supervision: Oversee sub-groups and individual team members within the Test Centre.
  • Equipment Operation: Utilize Measuring and Data Logging Equipment effectively.
  • Project Management: Lead projects involving rig construction, modifications, commissioning, and development tailored to testing requirements.
  • Documentation: Manage the creation, control, and distribution of essential documentation.
  • Database Proficiency: Cultivate advanced knowledge of Test Centre Databases to generate data and presentations as needed.
  • Quality Standards: Advocate for standards that reflect a Centre of Excellence dedicated to continuous improvement.
  • Project Accountability: Assume full responsibility for Test and Rig projects.
  • Health and Safety: Support ongoing and future Health, Safety, and Environmental initiatives.
  • Budget Management: Actively participate in budget control.

This role requires a commitment to maintaining a tidy and organized workspace while adapting to the dynamic environment of a Technology Centre. A degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, along with relevant experience, is essential. Proficiency in computer applications, particularly Microsoft Office and CAD, is required. Experience with testing equipment and instrumentation is highly valued. A formal qualification in Health and Safety or demonstrated capability in this area would be advantageous.
