About the Role
We are seeking a skilled CAD Technician to join our team at Barrett Steel Limited. This is an exciting opportunity to work in a fast-paced environment, utilizing your technical expertise to deliver high-quality digital drawings and 3D models.
Key Responsibilities
- Programming for profiling machines, including lasers and saws
- Producing digital drawings and 3D models from customer specifications and requirements
- Minimizing waste and scrap per program
- Responsible for machine workload
- Working with operators to achieve overall Equipment Effectiveness
- Customer liaison on a daily basis
- Liaising with all internal departments

About You
You will have the passion, drive, and confidence to work within the business in a collaborative, creative way.
Essential Skills
- Excellent verbal, written, and numeracy skills
- Experience as a CAD Technician in a similar heavy industry environment, ideally within the steel industry
- Expertise in Solidworks and ideally Artube Lasertube Programming Software
- Confident computer skills and a good understanding of Microsoft Applications with excellent attention to detail
- Good organizational skills, including the ability to manage time and prioritize effectively
- A positive, flexible attitude and approach
- Team-focused
- Has worked in a similar CAD technologist role in the steel industry or similar heavy industry in the UK
