About the Role
We are seeking a competent and enthusiastic driver to join our team as a Mobile Cancer Care Unit Driver. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for driving the Mobile Chemotherapy Unit to various locations, ensuring the unit is prepared and secure, and providing administrative support to chemotherapy nurses and patients.
Main Responsibilities
- Prepare the unit for service and close it down each day
- Undertake vehicle maintenance and safety checks as required
- Maintain the vehicle in a clean, safe, and presentable condition
- Greet patients and complete administrative tasks
- Support chemotherapy nurses and patients as directed
- Carry out daily risk assessments on external sites before parking and setting up the unit
- Use vehicle and equipment safely and effectively, reporting any defects
- Comply with department policies and procedures
- Work safely and effectively, using only provided equipment
- Communicate with patients and colleagues throughout the delivery process
- Assist in emergency situations under the direction of a Registered Nurse
- Support new staff during onboarding
- Ensure infection control procedures are strictly observed
- Ensure the safeguarding of keys and secure vehicles/areas/rooms
- Respect patients' wellbeing and privacy
- Carry out duties as instructed, providing a quality service and satisfying customers
- Undertake any other associated duties to support the delivery of the service
Person Specification
- Significant driving experience
- Experience working with the general public
- LGV Class 2
Desirable Qualifications and Skills
- Customer experience in the NHS or other establishment
- Health and safety, manual handling, infection prevention courses
