Position: HGV Mechanic Apprentice

Location: Tamworth Midlands

Role Summary:

As an HGV Mechanic Apprentice, you will enhance your skills to support our mission of keeping our fleet operational. The extensive variety of our vehicles provides a unique opportunity to grow your mechanical expertise - assisting in the repair and maintenance of light vans, tractor and trailer units, as well as our expanding alternative fuel fleet. If you have experience as a car mechanic, we will provide training to transition your skills to HGVs.

What We Offer:
  • A competitive starting salary of £16,598, with annual increases up to £31,117 upon successful completion of the apprenticeship. Additional shift premium (£2.00 per hour for night shifts) and overtime compensation at time and a half.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Work on alternating shifts from 06:00 to 14:30 and 14:00 to 22:30, Monday to Friday.
  • Ensure our fleet remains operational by performing a variety of repairs and maintenance tasks.
  • Conduct regular maintenance inspections, maintain online records, and manage inventory.
  • Collaborate with fellow mechanics to meet maintenance targets efficiently and safely.
Qualifications:
  • Demonstrated initiative, planning skills, and a flexible, enthusiastic approach.
  • A full UK driving licence is preferred.
  • A C1, 7.5-tonne licence is advantageous but not mandatory.
