We are excited to announce an opportunity for a skilled and driven Heavy Goods Vehicle (HGV) Mechanic to join our dynamic team. This position is integral to our operations, allowing the successful candidate to contribute to one of the UK's leading parcel delivery services.
Work Schedule
- Contract Type: Permanent
- Working Hours: 42 hours per week, on a 4 on 4 off shift pattern, from 06:40 to 19:00
Key Responsibilities
As an HGV Mechanic, you will report directly to the Workshop Manager and play a vital role in our team. Your primary responsibilities will include:
- Conducting maintenance and servicing on a fleet of approximately 1500 Mercedes Benz tractor units and 2700 trailers.
- Performing fault diagnostics on vehicles.
- Preparing vehicles for MOT inspections.
- Carrying out regular weekly and monthly checks on HGV vehicles.
- Executing mechanical and electrical repairs on vehicles.
Candidate Profile
The ideal candidate will possess experience in a similar Heavy Goods or Heavy Plant role, with a strong background in vehicle maintenance. A Level 3 qualification in Vehicle Maintenance and Repair or equivalent experience is preferred.
Familiarity with brands such as Mercedes, DAF, Dennis, Volvo, and Renault is essential. Candidates should embody DPD's core values: Passion, Respect, Honesty, Flexibility, Hard Work, and Accountability.
While an irtec licence is advantageous, it is not a requirement as we offer opportunities for further training and accreditation.
Additional Information
Successful candidates will undergo a comprehensive induction program to familiarize themselves with DPD's operations and workshop practices.
A Class 1 LGV Driving Licence is desirable but not mandatory for this role.
