We are seeking a passionate and seasoned midwife to become a vital member of our Practice Education Team for a fixed-term engagement.
Your Responsibilities:
In this capacity, you will play a crucial role in fostering the professional development of your colleagues, championing excellence in practice, and furthering your own leadership capabilities and continuous professional advancement.
As a Practice Educator, your duties will include:
- Delivering high-quality maternity training programs, including Prompt, Pre-Hospital Prompt, and the Midwifery Professional Day.
- Leading clinical skill support and multidisciplinary team simulation training.
- Collaborating with colleagues to confidently enhance and sustain their professional knowledge and skills.
Essential Qualifications:
We are looking for a candidate who exemplifies excellence in all midwifery competencies, including suturing, cannulation, IV administration, and drug delivery. A comprehensive understanding of all areas of midwifery practice is essential. You should be adept at recognizing clinical priorities, demonstrating effective clinical decision-making, and guiding junior staff in their decision-making processes.
Key Attributes:
Strong communication and interpersonal skills are vital. Experience as a practice supervisor or assessor is a prerequisite. We seek a forward-thinking team player with a proactive attitude, willing to adapt to the needs of colleagues and the service.

You should possess a genuine passion for supporting staff and be willing to educate in both formal and informal settings, demonstrating a commitment to personal and organizational growth. Key qualities include enthusiasm, organization, self-motivation, and the ability to work independently while taking initiative.
Additional Responsibilities:
In addition to your primary duties, you may also:
- Collaborate with the education lead to implement the Coaching Learners in Practice framework.
- Engage with universities to address practice-related concerns.
- Lead student inductions and conduct student risk assessments prior to clinical placements.
- Respond to feedback regarding placements.
- Assist in reviewing student placement capacity.
