Job Overview

We are seeking a dynamic and hardworking individual to join our Pre-Operative department as a Healthcare Support Worker. As a key member of our team, you will play a vital role in providing person-centred support and care to our patients, ensuring a safe and effective journey prior to elective surgery.

Main Responsibilities
  • Assist the Pre-Operative team in clinic sessions, ensuring seamless communication and collaboration.
  • Obtain pre-operative tests to promote a safe patient journey, adhering to NICE Elective guidelines and trust policies.
  • Document clear and concise information on hospital IT systems, maintaining accurate records.
  • Maintain respect, dignity, and confidentiality at all times with patients and colleagues.
  • Order stock for the department, ensuring efficient inventory management.
  • Participate in audits, contributing to the improvement of our services.
  • Maintain good housekeeping, ensuring a clean and safe environment for patients and staff.
Person Specification

We are looking for an individual with:

  • NVQ Level 2 in Health and Social Care qualification.
  • Effective level of numeracy and literacy skills.
  • Effective communication skills – written and verbal.
  • Effective understanding of confidentiality.
  • Proven ability to remain calm under pressure.
  • Proven ability to demonstrate compassion/empathy/help others.
  • Effective team player.
  • Effective customer service skills.
  • Ability to deal with people from all backgrounds.
