Independent Domestic Violence Advocate

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Independent Domestic Violence Advocate (IDVA) to join our team at St Helier's Hospital. As an IDVA, you will play a critical role in providing support and guidance to victims of domestic abuse, working closely with healthcare professionals and other stakeholders to ensure the best possible outcomes for our clients.
Key Responsibilities- Implement effective risk assessment and safety planning strategies to minimize harm and promote victim safety
- Provide high-quality, front-line support to victims of domestic abuse, prioritizing those at highest risk
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with healthcare professionals, social services, and other agencies to ensure seamless service delivery
- Deliver group training sessions and share specialist knowledge with acute staff to enhance their understanding of domestic abuse
- Contribute to the development and implementation of policies and procedures to promote victim safety and well-being
- Proven experience in domestic abuse support and advocacy, with a strong understanding of risk assessment and safety planning
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders
- Strong crisis management skills and the ability to remain calm under pressure
- Knowledge of help-seeking barriers and support needs of victims of domestic abuse
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a strong commitment to victim-centered practice
