Position Overview:
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate SEN Support Assistant to join our team. This role can be offered on a full-time, part-time, or contract basis. The ideal candidate will have a genuine passion for working with children who have special educational needs (SEN) and will be skilled in managing challenging behaviors.

Key Responsibilities:
As a SEN Support Assistant, your duties will include:
  • Providing personal care to students as necessary.
  • Assisting the classroom teacher in managing challenging behaviors and fostering a positive learning environment.
  • Encouraging independence and personal growth in students while maintaining high standards of behavior.
  • Delivering 1:1 support for students with Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC) and Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) to enhance their learning experience.
  • Creating a safe and supportive educational atmosphere for all children.
  • Offering both academic and emotional support to students.
  • Documenting and communicating student progress to the classroom teacher.

Qualifications:
Applicants should possess:
  • A minimum of GCSE qualifications in Maths and English Language at Grade 4 or equivalent.
  • A valid Enhanced DBS check (preferably registered with the Update Service).

Experience:
It is essential that candidates have prior experience in providing specialized support to children with SEN, particularly those with moderate to severe behavioral challenges. Familiarity with strategies for supporting students with conditions such as Dyslexia, Challenging Behavior, Profound and Multiple Learning Disabilities (PMLD), Moderate Learning Disabilities (MLD), and the use of communication aids like PECs and Makaton is highly desirable.
