Job Description

We are seeking a skilled PHP Developer to join our established Development Team. The successful candidate will have a passion for writing clean, secure, and testable code, and a commitment to ongoing professional development. The role requires significant experience of Object-Oriented Software design principles and best practices, as well as a good understanding of SQL and database normalisation. You will also need to have a working knowledge of JavaScript and PHP, with experience of developing frontend solutions using JavaScript and AJAX.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and develop high-quality, secure, and scalable PHP applications
  • Collaborate with the development team to identify and prioritize project requirements
  • Develop and maintain relational databases and SQL
  • Write modular, reusable code, without relying on frameworks
  • Develop frontend solutions using JavaScript and AJAX

Requirements

  • Extensive knowledge of Object-Oriented PHP
  • Solid understanding of software design patterns, principles, and best practices
  • Ability to write modular, reusable code, without relying on frameworks
  • Ability to develop frontend solutions using JavaScript and AJAX
  • Relational databases and SQL
  • Unit testing with PHPUnit

Desirable Experience

  • Agile Software Development (Scrum, Kanban)
  • RESTful Web Services
  • Asynchronous JavaScript using Promises

Working Hours

The normal hours of the business are 9:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Monday to Friday inclusive. Some flexibility can be offered in start and finish times as per discussion with the hiring manager.
