Our client is seeking a dedicated Sustainability Project Manager to oversee the environmental aspects of renewable energy projects, particularly in solar and battery storage. This role is crucial in guiding projects from initial planning through to construction and eventual handover to operational teams.

The successful candidate will ensure that environmental management and sustainability principles are integrated throughout the project lifecycle.


Key Responsibilities:


1. Oversee all environmental obligations for large-scale solar and battery construction initiatives, while advancing sustainability objectives and action plans, including the implementation of Biodiversity Net Gain Plans during the construction phase.

2. Review Environmental Impact Assessments (EIA) and Environmental Reports (ER), prepare and manage Construction Environmental Management Plans, and support project Sustainability Action Plans while ensuring compliance with planning conditions related to environmental factors.

3. Coordinate environmental surveys and monitoring activities, including the scope of work for environmental contracts and contractors, contributing to the tendering process, ensuring safe work practices, and evaluating contractor Risk Assessments and Method Statements (RAMS) and reports.

4. Conduct regular environmental audits and inspections on-site, preparing comprehensive audit reports throughout the construction process.

5. Investigate environmental incidents and hazards, implementing measures to prevent further issues, identifying solutions, and disseminating lessons learned.


Qualifications:
1. Eligibility to work in the United Kingdom.
2. Based in the Southeast region and willing to travel to project sites as required.
3. Proven experience in environmental management for large construction projects, with a solid understanding of environmental legislation and policy.
4. Membership in a relevant professional organization (e.g., IEMA or CIEEM).
5. Strong commercial awareness and understanding of project development and construction dynamics, including contractor management.
6. Experience in conducting environmental audits and inspections within a construction context.

7. A commitment to teamwork, fostering collaboration, and promoting inclusive practices, with a strong awareness of sustainability initiatives.
