About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Assistant Kitchen Manager to join our catering team at Bowhill Primary School. As a key member of our team, you will play a vital role in ensuring the smooth operation of our kitchen, providing excellent customer satisfaction, and contributing to the overall success of our school.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist the Kitchen Manager in the planning, preparation, cooking, and serving of food to pupils, staff, and special events.
  • Contribute to the operational efficiency of the kitchen, maximizing quantity and efficiency while maintaining high standards of customer satisfaction.
  • Work closely with the kitchen team to oversee the food provision at Bowhill Primary and other schools within the Trust.
  • Develop and implement effective systems to manage kitchen operations, ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations and food safety standards.
  • Collaborate with the kitchen team to plan and prepare menus, ensuring variety, nutritional value, and dietary requirements are met.
  • Manage and maintain kitchen equipment, supplies, and inventory, ensuring optimal use and minimizing waste.
  • Develop and maintain effective relationships with suppliers, ensuring timely delivery of high-quality ingredients and equipment.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of catering policies and procedures, ensuring alignment with Trust and school objectives.
  • Participate in staff training and development, ensuring the kitchen team is equipped to provide excellent customer service and maintain high standards of food quality.
Requirements
  • Proven experience in a busy kitchen environment, with a strong understanding of kitchen operations and food safety regulations.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to work effectively with the kitchen team and other stakeholders.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities, ensuring timely completion of tasks and maintaining high standards of customer satisfaction.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to think critically and make informed decisions in a fast-paced environment.
  • Relevant catering qualifications to NVQ level 3 or equivalent, or willingness to undertake professional development.
  • Full driving license and vehicle, with the ability to visit other schools within the Trust.
