Clinical Scientist

The Kings College Hospital is seeking a highly skilled Clinical Scientist to join our team as a Principal Clinical Informatician. This is an exciting opportunity to develop predictive algorithms using Machine Learning techniques as applied to healthcare settings for a number of key clinical areas.
The successful candidate will be responsible for developing the clinical analytics platform by managing, analysing and harmonizing genomics data alongside existing clinical, diagnostics and imaging data analytical pipelines. This will include publishing projects in peer-reviewed journals and supporting the day-to-day operational activity of the clinical analytics platform.
Main Duties- Develop Predictive Algorithms: The post-holder will be responsible for developing predictive algorithms using Machine Learning techniques as applied to healthcare settings for a number of key clinical areas.
- Support Clinical Analytics Platform: The post-holder will support the day-to-day operational activity of the clinical analytics platform and lead on the evolution of current data flow architectures.
- Develop Next Generation Applications: The post-holder will develop the next generation of user-facing applications leveraging the information from the CogStack data lake.
- Quality Management and Data Governance: The post-holder will be responsible for active development and improvement of internal quality management, data governance processes.
- Education and Qualifications: Educated to a BSc degree level with relevant domain knowledge, skills and experience in the informatics field. MSc in Computer Science, mathematics, statistics, physics, computational biology, artificial intelligence, data science or other quantitative field is preferred.
- Management Experience: Experience in leading and managing a bioinformatics and data analytics team.
- Scientific Experience: Experience in writing scientific proposals, grants and publications.
- Knowledge and Experience: Proficient in R and/or python programming, experience with at least one major machine learning framework, experience of using and applying machine learning and data-mining tools to address clinical, operational, audit and research questions.
- Collaboration and Communication: Demonstrable skills and competencies in collaborating with software engineering and AI development teams, ability to explain technical issues to a non-technical audience.
- Problem-Solving and Analytical Skills: Demonstrable skills and competencies in solving problems using healthcare data, strong analytical and data visualisation skills.
- Leadership and Management: Ability to multitask and work under pressure independently as well as within a team, able to prioritise workload in response to changing demands.
