About the Role:

Raytheon Technologies is seeking an experienced Firmware Engineer to join our Assured Position, Navigation and Timing (APNT) team within the Global Sensors Mission Area. As a Senior Firmware Engineer, you will be responsible for creating digital GPS anti-jam systems for the military market.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Develop requirements to ensure compliance to relevant standards.
  • Create and manage architectures for firmware, mainly FPGAs.
  • Understand, decompose, and verify firmware requirements.
  • Define and perform unit-level and subsystem-level testing for embedded firmware.
  • Work alongside our embedded system, software, and electronic design engineers.
  • Generate supporting design documentation and perform regular technical reviews.

Requirements:

  • Experience creating firmware architectures.
  • Experience testing and verifying requirements.
  • Experience working with FPGAs and SoC technologies.
  • Ability to program in VHDL.
  • Able to present technical information clearly and concisely to others.
  • Demonstrable analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • An openness to learn and try new techniques.
  • Ability to adapt to a dynamic work environment - working independently or with others to overcome obstacles.
  • Capable of analyzing and reporting on technical data.
  • Eligible or holder of current SC security clearance.

Desirable:

  • Experience using the Vivado and Vitis design tools, or equivalent.
  • Experience working with the Xilinx chip family.
  • Experience delivering embedded firmware as part of a product.
  • Experience creating embedded system architectures.
  • Familiarity with the application of a systems engineering approach across the design and development lifecycle.
  • Knowledge of defense engineering/airborne standards.
  • Working with Model-Based System Engineering tools such as Simulink.
