Radiological Protection Advisor

Job Type: Contract

Location: Oxfordshire – Hybrid available

Hours of work: 37.5 hours per week

We are seeking a highly skilled Radiological Protection Advisor to join our team. As a key member of our organization, you will provide guidance and advice on radiological safety to ensure legislative compliance and adoption of industry best practice.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement improvements to radiation protection systems, processes, and infrastructure
  • Prepare, review, and approve radiological protection and process documentation
  • Provide guidance for onsite health physics teams
  • Provide technical guidance and selection and calibration of radiation monitoring equipment, sources, and monitoring systems
  • Provide onsite supervision of contractors working in radiological areas
  • Deliver radiological protection courses to stakeholders
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of radiological best practices and UK legislation
  • Respond to onsite incidents involving radioactive materials

Requirements:

  • Able to gain SC clearance
  • In-date RPA 2000 certificate of competence
  • Nuclear industry experience
  • Able to work under pressure
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Strong awareness of nuclear, conventional safety, and security requirements
