Role Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled and innovative power electronics engineer to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in designing, developing, and optimizing power electronics systems specifically tailored for low voltage but high current battery-powered applications.

This role will involve working on various aspects of high current DC power systems and other related components, with a focus on efficiency, reliability, and performance.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and Development: Design and develop power electronics systems to control, switch, and manage high power components of our system.
  • Circuit Analysis and Optimization: Utilize simulation tools for circuit analysis and optimization to achieve high efficiency and reliability.
  • Component Selection: Select suitable components, including power semiconductors, passive components, and magnetics, considering the specific requirements and constraints of our electrical systems.
  • PCB Design: Design multi-layer PCBs (6+) with a focus on thermal management, compactness, and manufacturability in mind.
  • Prototype and Testing: Prototype, build, and test power electronics hardware, conducting rigorous functional tests, reliability assessments, and performance evaluations.
  • Collaboration: Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including electrical engineers, mechanical engineers, and firmware engineers, to integrate power electronics systems into our products or systems.
  • Technical Expertise: Provide technical expertise and support to team members, contributing to the continuous improvement of engineering practices and processes.
Requirements
  • Experience: Proven experience in designing and developing high current, high power electronics systems for battery-powered applications.
  • Circuit Simulation: Proficiency in circuit simulation and analysis tools.
  • PCB Design Software: Hands-on experience with PCB design and layout software (Altium Designer), with an emphasis on power electronics, EMI/EMC, and manufacturability.
  • Power Semiconductor Devices: Strong understanding of power semiconductor devices such as MOSFETs, IGBTs, and diodes.
  • Thermal Management: Experience with thermal management techniques.
Preferred Skills
  • Digital Control Techniques: Experience with digital control techniques for power electronics systems in battery-powered applications.
  • Electric Vehicle Powertrain Systems: Knowledge of electric vehicle (EV) powertrain systems and their associated power electronics components.
  • 48V Battery Systems: Experience working with 48V battery systems and motor control.
