Position Overview

We are seeking dedicated and enthusiastic pediatric nurses, both newly qualified and experienced, who are committed to delivering exceptional patient care. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing high-quality nursing services, mentoring Student Nurses and Health Care Assistants, advocating for children and their families, and actively participating in the management of the unit.

Key Responsibilities

St George's University Hospital is recognized as a leading center for pediatric care and a nationally acknowledged Trauma Center. We deliver specialized treatment for children and adolescents, managing a busy unit with 10 Intensive Care beds catering to a diverse range of health conditions. Our specialties encompass oncology, trauma, pediatric surgery, neurosurgery, neurology, pediatric infectious diseases, and pediatric medicine. Additionally, we oversee a 5-bed High Dependency Unit.

We are in search of passionate and motivated pediatric nurses who are dedicated to providing outstanding patient experiences and who wish to join our cohesive team.

Qualifications and Training

Essential

  • Registered Nurse (Child)
  • Experience in assessing, planning, and evaluating patient care tailored to individual needs.

Desirable

  • Practice Supervisor Qualification/experience.

Skills

Essential

  • Demonstrated proficiency in written, numeric, and verbal communication.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively and utilize resources as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Capability to prioritize, adapt swiftly, and organize both personal and junior staff workloads.
  • Ability to exercise initiative.

Desirable

  • IV administration course.

Knowledge

Essential

  • Awareness of professional responsibilities.
  • Understanding of normal child development and the needs of the ill child.
  • Comprehension of the role of an advocate for the child.

Desirable

  • Experience in conducting small research or audit projects.
