About the Role

Magna International Inc. is seeking a skilled Controls Engineer to join our team in Telford, UK. As a key member of our Magna Advanced Automation (MAA) team, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and commissioning automated assembly lines and machines.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Design and program complex automation solutions throughout project lifecycles, including supervising the installation at the customer's facility.
  2. Work on multi-line projects as part of a team, ensuring effective communication with Electrical, Mechanical, Process, and Shop floor departments regarding design changes and issues.
  3. Eliminate the risk of spill of non-conforming product through the use of automated solutions.
  4. Integrate cell upgrades through hardware and software additions.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  1. A minimum 3 years' experience programming automated production lines.
  2. Extensive knowledge of PLC and HMI design and commissioning, including TIA/Step 7 + Safety & Startdrive /Starter.
  3. Advanced knowledge of pneumatic safety principles and design, with experience of resistance welding, electrical standards, and latest safety standards.
  4. Revision & version management experience, with the ability to read and interpret electrical & pneumatic drawings and carry out OEE calculations.

It would be beneficial if you had experience in electrical design, panel design, and/or panel building, as well as knowledge of VBA and C# languages.

Preferred Qualifications

A minimum HNC level or equivalent in Manufacturing/Electrical/Mechatronics Engineering is required.
