About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Government Affairs Manager to join our Corporate Development team. As a key member of our team, you will play a critical role in positioning Virgin Atlantic as an industry leader across Government and wider political audiences. Your primary focus will be on maintaining and improving our reputation with the new Labour Government and decision-makers, while also growing our position as a UK flag carrier and supporting opportunities that enable Virgin Atlantic's growth ambition in the next 5-10 years.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Develop and deliver an external engagement strategy, working with senior external influencers to deliver Virgin Atlantic's strategic, commercial, and customer-facing priorities.
  2. Build and maintain strong relationships with key externals, including Parliamentarians, advisers, and Government officials.
  3. Horizon scan to identify relevant future legislative and policy changes that could impact Virgin Atlantic's business and lead the development of an enterprise approach to engagement and influence.
  4. Lead internal briefing materials and external responses to potential policy or regulatory changes, collaborating with partners to generate data, analysis, and insight.
  5. Brief Virgin Atlantic's Leadership Team for meetings with senior officials across the Government.
  6. Prepare company 'lines to take' and briefing papers to support external political engagement, working closely with the comms team.
  7. Represent Virgin Atlantic at industry and government working groups, seeking opportunities to engage with government departments, advisers, and agencies.

About You

We are looking for a highly analytical individual with excellent written and verbal communication skills, who is well-networked and has proven experience delivering engagement programmes and campaigns on behalf of management/senior leaders. You should have a strong understanding of Government and/or Parliament, with experience in issues related to Transport, Net Zero, Business, and Trade or Treasury.
