Senior Microbiologist

We are seeking a highly skilled Consultant Microbiologist to join our team at NHS Lothian. As a key member of our infection service, you will play a vital role in delivering expert care to patients across Lothian.

This is a challenging and rewarding opportunity for a Consultant Microbiologist to contribute to the development of our infection service. You will work closely with our team of virologists and infectious diseases physicians to provide comprehensive care to patients with complex infections.

As a Consultant Microbiologist, you will be responsible for:

• Providing expert advice on antimicrobial stewardship and infection control
• Contributing to the development of our infection service, including the management of Mycobacteria, E. coli O157, and other high-priority pathogens
• Working closely with clinical teams to deliver high-quality patient care
• Participating in ongoing collaboration with researchers in Edinburgh and beyond

To be successful in this role, you will need:

• A CCT in Microbiology or Microbiology and Infectious Diseases
• Full GMC Registration and a license to practise
• Eligibility for inclusion in the GMC Specialist Register
