Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled Welding Engineer to join our team at The Transcal Group. As a key member of our engineering department, you will be responsible for ensuring the highest quality standards in our manufacturing processes.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement welding procedures and management systems to ensure compliance with industry standards.
  • Coordinate and supervise manufacturing operations, including quality control and inspection processes.
  • Ensure the effective application of management systems, including ISO 9001, to maintain a high level of quality and customer satisfaction.
  • Develop and maintain welding personnel competency matrices to ensure the right skills and competencies are available.
  • Conduct audits of subcontract capabilities to determine their suitability and capability to support our welding requirements.
  • Perform routine safety, environmental, and compliance inspections to ensure a safe and healthy work environment.
  • Facilitate improvement through the use of industry tools, such as Kaizen, LEAN, and 5S, to drive continuous improvement.
  • Develop and maintain performance tracking documents to ensure KPIs are being reviewed and actively contributing to root cause investigations.
  • Supervise welding personnel with preparation for complex tasks and coordinate pre, interim, and post-welding quality control inspection and testing.
Requirements:
  • Qualified as either an International Welding Engineer (IWE) or European Welding Engineer (EWE).
  • Minimum 5 years' experience in a similar position within an engineering and/or fabrication environment.
  • Experience of developing and implementing welding-related procedures and management systems.
  • Quality aware and experience of working within a customer-focused environment.
  • Strong commercial acumen and a proven track record in operating at a strategic level.
  • Application of numerical and IT skills, and proficient with the use of Microsoft Windows packages.
  • CSWIP National Accreditation 3.1 Welding Inspector.
  • A relevant engineering degree.
Desirable:
  • Experience of working with international regulatory standards; ISO 9001, 3834, Din 2303, and EN 15085, or equivalent.
  • Qualified or current experience of using Lean Six Sigma.
  • Planning experience, NPI, and product life cycle.
  • Experience of Defence (AQAP's Mil-Std's), Rail (RIS), and Automotive (IATF) standards.
Working Hours:

Monday to Thursday: 07:45 to 17:15

Friday: Flexible hours to be discussed with the line manager.
