About the Role

The Government Digital Service is seeking a highly skilled Finance Business Partner to join our Business Operations team. As a key member of the team, you will play a critical role in supporting senior and middle managers across the organization.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage the end-to-end income billing process for the organization, including communicating with customers, raising invoices, reviewing aged debt, and processing write-offs.
  • Advise on all finance and operational work for various programs, ensuring all finances, resourcing, commercial needs, and procurement are delivered to a high standard.
  • Manage the end-to-end purchase-to-pay processes for the organization, including raising purchase orders, virtual credit cards, and managing subsequent invoices.
  • Analyze all finance reports from the Cabinet Office, reconcile the reports, and present findings to take relevant actions to programs/directorates.
  • Manage end-of-month financial accruals and journal entries for respective directorates, working in partnership with GDS and CO Finance colleagues to ensure a smooth process.
  • Assist with the development and continuous improvement of all Business Operations processes, reviewing existing knowledge and recommending actions for new tools, standards, and methodologies.

Requirements

  • Fully AAT qualified or part-qualified with relevant finance experience, or part-qualified with a CCAB body (CIPFA, ACA, ACCA, ICAS) or CIMA.
  • Sound knowledge and experience of financial and business management processes and controls, particularly income billing and recognition processes and accounting standards, purchase-to-pay and accrual recognition processes and standards, procurement and resourcing practices, and a good understanding of operational delivery.
  • Confident in communicating with stakeholders.
  • Demonstrate experience in analyzing management information, comfortable working with large datasets to identify patterns or themes and extracting key data to provide valuable intelligence.

Desirable Skills

  • Experience of working in complex environments.
  • Interest in working within an agile and/or digital environment.
  • Familiarity with the public sector and government processes.
