Role Overview
We are seeking a Lead Procurement Specialist for Fresh Produce. In this pivotal role, you will optimize our supplier relationships and product assortment, leveraging data analytics to enhance performance and drive sales, profitability, and market share in alignment with Ocado Retail's strategic objectives.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee the category profit and loss (P&L) and achieve key performance indicators (KPIs).
- Conduct comprehensive category assessments to refine product offerings and align with business strategies.
- Develop and execute promotional and event plans to boost sales.
- Identify and capitalize on opportunities to enhance customer engagement.
- Negotiate with suppliers to secure favorable terms and improve overall margins.
- Utilize data and reporting tools to analyze performance metrics and implement effective solutions.
- Source innovative products exclusive to Ocado, guided by customer and market insights.
- Collaborate with the Trading Manager to formulate category strategies.
- Ensure product range adjustments align with overall business objectives.
- Manage supplier performance through effective communication and relationship-building.
- Work closely with merchandise planning to ensure optimal product availability.
- Develop contingency plans to address potential supply chain disruptions.
- Ensure product quality meets Ocado's standards through collaboration with suppliers and quality teams.
- Provide mentorship and feedback to category assistants to help them achieve their targets.
Candidate Profile
- Extensive experience (5+ years) in retail procurement, with some management experience preferred.
- Passionate about the retail and food sectors.
- Proficient in Excel and experienced in analyzing customer and financial data.
- Strong leadership and people management skills.
- Excellent negotiation and stakeholder management abilities.
- Proven project management skills.
- Adept at interpreting complex data sets.
