We invite applications for a Postdoctoral Research Associate specializing in both Experimental and Theoretical Photonics within the Emergent Photonics Research Centre. This role is initially set for a duration of two years, with the potential for an extension based on ongoing research needs.
Project Context: This position is integral to the UK Hub for Quantum Enabled Position, Navigation and Timing (QEPNT), which is one of five hubs established under the UKRI EPSRC's Quantum Technology Programme. The initiative is spearheaded by a consortium including prominent institutions.
Research Focus: The successful candidate will be engaged in pioneering the development of innovative methods aimed at achieving compact optical frequency combs utilizing microresonators. The project is rooted in the core principles of nonlinear photonics, fiber photonics, mode-locked lasers, and optical frequency combs, and is expected to yield significant advancements across various fields, including quantum technologies, environmental sensing, and metrology.
Candidate Profile: Applicants should possess a PhD in a relevant discipline, with a strong emphasis on nonlinear photonics, ultrafast photonics, and nonlinear wave propagation. A background that intersects soliton theory and optical complexity, along with a robust publication record, is preferred. Experience with photonic bench setups and a foundational understanding of ultrafast laser operations will be advantageous. Demonstrated leadership potential, independence, and a proactive approach to research are essential attributes.
Key Responsibilities:
