Neighbourhood Safety Officer

Nottingham, Nottingham, United Kingdom Leicestershire County Council Full time
About the Role

This is an exciting opportunity to join our front-line uniformed community-based team as a Neighbourhood Safety Officer. As a key member of our team, you will play a vital role in delivering a customer-focused neighbourhood safety service, taking ownership of local neighbourhoods and ensuring they are safe and clean for our residents.

You will engage collaboratively with all our communities, using prevention, early intervention, education, and enforcement approaches to problem-solve public realm and neighbourhood issues. This is a shift-based role with some weekend working.

About You

We are looking for enthusiastic individuals who enjoy working with communities and have experience of working with community principles and participation. You will need to have strong communication skills, including the ability to listen, empathise, negotiate, and be assertive.

You will also need to be aware of the skills necessary to use enforcement powers, such as fixed penalty notices, ASB, Crime and Policing Act 2014, and the Environmental Protection Act.

An NPPV (Non-Police Personal Vetting) is required for this post.

What We Offer

At Nottingham City Council, we believe that work is what you do, not where you do it. We offer different working arrangements, depending on the role, including hybrid working. Further information on Worker Types and what these mean in terms of how and where you work can be found on our website.

We offer a competitive salary, great leave entitlement, and access to a generous pension scheme. We strive to create an innovative, inclusive, and progressive work culture where everyone is supported to do and be their very best.
