Job Title: Forecasting Data Scientist

The Forecasting Data Scientist will provide technical expertise for demand forecasting and airport capacity at Heathrow. They will perform data analytics and advanced modeling to aid operational planning and strategic problem-solving.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide precise forecasting and capacity analysis to support efficient airport planning and operations.
  • Transform data analysis into actionable insights for Heathrow, making informed decisions despite uncertainties using commercial and operational intelligence.
  • Communicate complex ideas clearly and accurately to senior stakeholders, both internally and externally, including non-technical audiences.
  • Continuously improve team forecasting and analytical capabilities by engaging with business members and seeking innovative solutions.
  • Collaborate with the airport community to ensure access to essential data and tools and develop and maintain intricate forecasting models and dashboards.
Requirements:
  • A numerate person with advanced understanding of statistics.
  • Advanced technical and analytical competence, ideally with a broad interest in aviation.
  • Object-oriented programming experience is crucial, particularly in R, Python, SQL, and must be able to quickly learn new analytical tools such as PowerBi.
  • A good understanding of Spark & Hadoop.
  • A good knowledge of forecasting, machine learning, and data modeling approaches.
  • Broad knowledge of Databricks and Heathrow/or any Airport is desirable.
  • Good team working skills and able to manage and plan own work and to work under tight time deadlines.
