About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Sous Chef to join our team at Grosvenor Casino, Southend-On-Sea. As a key member of our kitchen brigade, you will be responsible for assisting the Head Chef in the day-to-day running of the kitchen, ensuring that our high standards of food quality and presentation are consistently met.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist the Head Chef in the preparation and presentation of meals, ensuring that all dishes are of the highest quality and presented in a visually appealing manner.
  • Take charge of the kitchen during service, ensuring that all staff are aware of their roles and responsibilities and that the kitchen is running smoothly and efficiently.
  • Identify and conduct training needs for kitchen staff, ensuring that they are equipped with the skills and knowledge required to perform their duties to the highest standard.
  • Maintain high standards of cleanliness and hygiene in the kitchen, ensuring that all equipment and utensils are clean and in good working order.
  • Assist with the ordering of goods and supplies, ensuring that the kitchen is well-stocked and that all ingredients are of the highest quality.
  • Report any faulty equipment or utensils to the Head Chef, ensuring that any necessary repairs are carried out promptly.
  • Take responsibility for the security of the kitchen and fridges at closing time, ensuring that all doors and windows are locked and that all equipment is turned off.
Requirements
  • Proven experience as a Sous Chef in a high-volume kitchen environment.
  • Excellent culinary skills and knowledge of kitchen operations.
  • Ability to work well under pressure and as part of a team.
  • Strong communication and leadership skills.
  • Ability to maintain high standards of cleanliness and hygiene.
  • Knowledge of kitchen equipment and utensils.
  • Ability to train and develop kitchen staff.
