AIT Mechanical Engineer Job Description

Our client is seeking an experienced AIT Mechanical Engineer to join their team on a 12-month contract basis. As an AIT Mechanical Engineer, you will provide mechanical engineering support for the production of satellites and payloads.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Support the customization phase from project kick-off.
  2. Participate in project DMU sessions to ensure design for manufacture.
  3. Lead the installation of satellite appendages and integration flows.
  4. Support the AIT Lead Engineering team during periods of high workload.
  5. Oversee unit installation activities on the satellite.
  6. Conduct quality reviews, PFMEA, and root cause analysis.
  7. Develop re-work instructions based on project requirements.
  8. Design tooling and build aids for assembly execution.
  9. Create training modules and maintain them.
  10. Develop new processes, improve existing ones, and monitor their implementation.
Requirements:
  1. High mechanical skills and relevant experience in spacecraft or aircraft.
  2. Writing procedures and process control.
  3. Quality-driven approach with high attention to detail.
  4. Knowledge and experience in producing high-quality documentation.
  5. High self-motivation and ability to handle changing priorities.
  6. Good planning skills and process competence.
  7. Appreciation of satellite integration processes and project phases.
  8. Satellite appendage installation process knowledge.
  9. Good understanding of complex mechanical systems.
  10. Lean manufacturing techniques experience.
  11. Preparation and execution of environmental tests.
  12. Handling and installation of thermal hardware.
  13. Mechanical integration of electronic units and subsystems.

Clearance: BPSS required to start.

Hourly Rate: £35.00 per hour via Umbrella, inside IR35.
