Job Title: Section Manager Transport

Job Summary:

We are seeking an experienced Transport Operations Manager to lead and motivate a team to deliver business goals in our Transport Section. As our Transport Section Manager, you will be responsible for maintaining full compliance with current EU driving regulations and the Working Time Directive, planning operational resources, and overseeing a team of Partner drivers, office Partners, and agency Drivers.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain full compliance with current EU driving regulations and the Working Time Directive
  • Plan operational resources for daily and weekly requirements, overseeing a team of Partner drivers, office Partners, and agency Drivers
  • Support the Department Manager in delivering Partnership plans, initiatives, and preparing for peak seasonal volumes
  • Develop and maintain constructive relationships with collaborators and motivate them to govern their operational effectiveness and career development
  • Ensure the efficient execution of transport operations, maximizing the use of resources and minimizing costs
  • Monitor and report on key performance indicators, identifying areas for improvement and implementing corrective actions
  • Collaborate with other departments to ensure seamless integration of transport operations with other business functions
  • Develop and implement strategies to improve transport operations, including process improvements and technology enhancements
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant laws, regulations, and company policies

Requirements:

  • Previous experience in Supply Chain people management (Transport or Distribution environment)
  • Certificate of Professional Competence for Transport Managers
  • Familiarity with transport planning and execution systems, preferably Microlise or Paragon
  • Familiarity with transport compliance software, such as FTA (Freight Transport Association) or Logistics UK Vision
  • Strong leadership and management skills, with the ability to motivate and develop a team
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with collaborators
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, prioritizing tasks and managing multiple projects simultaneously
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify and implement process improvements
