Job Title: Director, Engineering

Leonardo is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Director, Engineering to lead the development of the Integrated Sensing and Non-Kinetic Effects (ISANKE) solution for the Tempest combat air system.

About the Role

As a Director, Engineering, you will be responsible for representing Leonardo UK in the Global Combat Air Programme (GCAP) environment, managing trade-offs associated with performance, cost, and technical risk. You will work closely with the Chief Systems Engineer, Design Integrity, and Senior Technical Specialists to ensure that the ISANKE solution meets requirements for performance, security, safety, and airworthiness certification.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the development of the ISANKE solution, working closely with international partners and subject matter experts.
  • Manage trade-offs associated with performance, cost, and technical risk, ensuring that the solution meets requirements.
  • Collaborate with the Chief Systems Engineer, Design Integrity, and Senior Technical Specialists to ensure that the solution meets performance, security, safety, and airworthiness certification requirements.
  • Inform technology research and development activities within the Future Combat Air sector.
  • Develop the next generation of technical leadership within the Future Combat Air sector.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree in Electronic Engineering or a related subject.
  • Significant depth of technical leadership experience spanning the entire engineering lifecycle, including systems and platform integration, and the application of relevant design assurance processes and standards.
  • Structured approach to technical problem-solving, excellent communication skills, and experience of providing technical leadership to engineering teams.
