This role involves leading initiatives related to case pricing, tool innovation, and mergers & acquisitions, while also establishing objectives, managing resources, prioritizing tasks, and reviewing critical outputs.
Our team consists of 31 professionals providing actuarial expertise across various regions. While primarily based in London, we offer flexibility for remote work or other office locations.
Collaboration is key, as we engage with nearly all departments and colleagues across the US and globally. Travel may be required for office engagements and conferences.
As the Actuarial Director of Pricing, you will play a pivotal role in all facets of Markel International's actuarial functions related to pricing and profitability. Your responsibilities will include:
- Leading the assessment of product line profitability and individual account performance.
- Designing pricing tools for both actuarial and underwriting applications.
- Validating rating frameworks and offering insights to bolster profitability and growth across various business segments.
- Drafting Solvency II Opinions and collaborating with the capital modeling team to ensure parameters are business-focused.
- Utilizing statistical data to generate reliable risk estimates through appropriate actuarial methodologies.
- Effectively communicating actuarial findings to both actuaries and non-actuaries.
- Documenting processes, assumptions, methodologies, and results from actuarial analyses.
We require substantial experience in technical pricing, particularly in case pricing for large accounts and the development of rating models. Additionally, familiarity with portfolio management and associated metrics is essential.
Experience in the actuarial aspects of business planning and underwriting risk parameterization is also necessary, alongside interaction with departments such as Finance, Underwriting, and Capital.
Staying updated on the latest market practices and advancements in pricing and portfolio management is crucial.
