About the Role

Xwatch Safety Solutions, part of Hexagon, is seeking a highly skilled Software Systems Engineer to join our team. As a key member of our engineering team, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and integrating software control systems to meet project requirements and timescales.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and Development: Design and develop software control systems using CoDeSys, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards and engineering procedures.
  • Integration and Testing: Create, execute, and document integration tests for software systems and machine interfaces, ensuring seamless integration and functionality.
  • Support and Commissioning: Provide technical support to installation teams and customers, and assist with calibration and functional verification of software systems.
  • Project Management: Manage project work and timescales, and work on multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring timely delivery and high-quality results.
Requirements
  • Education: An engineering or science degree or equivalent qualification and/or experience.
  • Technical Skills: Proficient in engineering design tools and test verification tools, experience developing code for electro-mechanical interfaces, and knowledge of PLC logic programming and test using CoDeSys functional block diagrams and structured text languages.
  • Soft Skills: Strong problem-solving and reporting skills, good organisational skills, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work effectively in a team environment or individually.
Desirable Experience
  • Electro-Mechanical Experience: Experience with 12v and 24v off-road machinery, knowledge of hydraulics systems, and familiarity with CAN-based communication protocols CANopen and J1939.
  • Software Development: Experience developing graphical user interfaces for machine control, software interfacing to CAN-based sensors and analogue and digital sensors and actuators.
