Key Responsibilities:

  • GCSEs with grades 9/A* - 4/C, including Mathematics and English.

Training Overview:

The Advanced Diploma - AAT Level 3 builds upon the foundational knowledge acquired in previous studies. If you have prior experience in accounting or have studied accountancy, you may qualify to start at this level. You will learn advanced accounting techniques and master various disciplines, including financial processes, advanced bookkeeping, final accounts, and ethical practices in accounting.

This level encourages mastery of complex accounting principles in both Bookkeeping and Management Accounting. You will develop the technical skills necessary to begin or advance your career in finance, paving the way for further studies at Level 4.

To successfully complete this level, you will study five mandatory units, four of which are individually examined, along with a synoptic assessment that encompasses the final two units and integrates knowledge from all units studied.

Areas of Study Include:

  • Advanced Bookkeeping.
  • Final Accounts Preparation.
  • Management Accounting: Costing.
  • Indirect Tax.
  • Advanced Synoptic Assessment.

The apprenticeship standard outlines the essential Knowledge, Skills, and Behaviors necessary for success as an Assistant Accountant, including Business Awareness, Ethics, Communication, Adaptability, and Problem Solving. Apprentices must demonstrate competence in all areas detailed in the standard during the End Point Assessment.

The Knowledge components of the standard will typically be covered through the completion of the AAT qualification, while Skills and Behaviors will be developed through workshops, e-learning, workplace training, and practical experience.

Career Prospects:

Upon successful completion of the Level 3 apprenticeship and meeting other role-related requirements, there may be opportunities to apply for a permanent Finance Assistant position.
