About the Role

The Swansea Bay University Health Board is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Biomedical Scientist Specialist to join its Laboratory Medicine Service. As a key member of the team, you will be responsible for providing a comprehensive Laboratory Medicine service, supporting the Point of Care Testing (POCT) service, and contributing to the development of the service through embracing new ways of working.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide a comprehensive Laboratory Medicine service, including routine haematology, coagulation, blood transfusion, general biochemistry, and POCT.
  • Support the POCT service, including training users, monitoring performance, and troubleshooting device and user problems.
  • Deputise for senior staff and assist in the training and supervision of junior members of the team.
  • Participate in the full shift rota and work at any of the networked laboratory sites as required to maintain quality, training, and service requirements.

Requirements

  • IBMS Specialist Diploma in Laboratory Medicine or equivalent experience.
  • HCPC Registration.
  • Significant post-registration experience in Laboratory Medicine, including POCT.
  • Knowledge and experience of working in a laboratory environment, including unsocial hours and night shifts.
  • Excellent IT skills, including good working knowledge of MS Office programs and virtual platforms.
