Procurement Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Buyer to join our team at Bennett And Game Recruitment. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing the purchasing process for our Power Tools & Machinery division.
The ideal candidate will have previous experience in a similar role and industry, with a strong understanding of procurement processes and supplier management.
The Senior Buyer will be responsible for reviewing current stock holdings, sales run rates, manufacturing lead times, and supplier MOQ. They will also forecast future demand, calculate stock requirements, and raise purchase orders for all items with nominated suppliers.
The role will involve overseeing the despatch and shipping process, monitoring freight reports, and chasing suppliers to ensure timely delivery of all agreed shipments. The Senior Buyer will also co-ordinate with the central warehouse team for booking-in of orders and prioritisation of urgent deliveries.
Key responsibilities will include identifying and nominating slow-selling and over-stocked items for marketing opportunities, informing stock control of supply limitations, and developing a detailed working knowledge of CE certification for nominated products.
The Senior Buyer will also source required CE certification and test reports, assist the technical team with product compliance, and maintain factory benchmarking for purchasing current items. They will negotiate cost savings with suppliers, maintain favourable commercial terms, and manage suppliers to ensure quality requirements are met.
The role will also involve initiating compensation claims with suppliers for substandard quality products or failure under warranty, monitoring product failure rates, and managing the process of product modification and upgrade with suppliers.
Key requirements for the role include previous experience in a similar role and industry, a strong understanding of procurement processes and supplier management, and excellent communication and negotiation skills.
The Senior Buyer will be responsible for managing the purchasing process for our Power Tools & Machinery division, and will work closely with the central warehouse team and suppliers to ensure timely delivery of all agreed shipments.
We offer a competitive salary and benefits package, including 20 days' holiday plus 8 bank holidays. The role is a full-time position, working 8:30am-6pm, Monday to Friday, with a 5pm finish on Fridays.
