An exciting opportunity has emerged for a Band 5 School Immunisation Specialist Nurse to become part of our dedicated Immunisation Service.
This permanent role entails working three days a week, with core hours from 8am to 4pm, requiring some flexibility to accommodate early starts for vaccine preparation or later finishes for after-school clinics.
Our Immunisation Service is committed to providing vaccinations to children in educational settings and community clinics throughout the region.
Collaborative Approach
While this position is primarily based within a specific team, our service operates on a collaborative model, necessitating teamwork across the entire region.
Key Responsibilities
Our innovative Immunisation teams are focused on enhancing vaccination rates and executing the national Schools' Immunisation Programmes. This role presents a unique chance to join a vibrant and supportive team of healthcare professionals.
The responsibilities include ensuring the safe administration of vaccinations, providing expert guidance on immunisation matters, and developing skills in both independent and collaborative work.
We encourage candidates who demonstrate a commitment to flexible and cooperative teamwork within their unit and across multidisciplinary teams. A motivated, conscientious attitude is essential to help us maintain high vaccination rates in the community.
The team visits various educational institutions daily, which means you will likely engage with different schools throughout the term and conduct catch-up clinics during school breaks. Our services include HPV and Teenage booster vaccinations in secondary schools, as well as nasal spray flu vaccinations for eligible groups. Additionally, we provide the neonatal BCG programme and other immunisations, such as MMR vaccinations.

Job Responsibilities
The successful candidate will engage with children, young people, and families in various settings to deliver vaccinations safely and professionally. This includes outreach to underserved populations, ensuring equitable access to immunisation services. Strong communication skills and the ability to remain composed under pressure are crucial.
The role requires adherence to core hours, with flexibility for vaccine preparation and clinic coverage as needed. Saturday clinics may also be part of the responsibilities.
All team members contribute to the broader Immunisation Service, necessitating a valid driver's license and the ability to travel between various sites.
