Position Overview

Hain Daniels is seeking a dedicated Product Specifications Specialist to join our team, focusing on our fresh soups and ready meals segment. This role is pivotal in ensuring that our retailer and branded specifications are meticulously managed and upheld.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee and maintain retailer specifications for Hain Celestial UK, providing support to fellow specifications technologists as needed. (65%)
  • Collaborate with various departments to ensure that artwork and advertising campaigns align with specifications and legal requirements. (20%)
  • Facilitate cross-training and cover for absences within the specifications function across the organization. (15%)
  • Stay informed about customer policies and legal updates, advising the business on necessary adjustments. (5%)

Qualifications & Experience

  • Educational Background: HNC/HND qualification.
  • Experience: Minimum of 2 years in the food industry with proven experience in retailer specifications.
  • Knowledge: Strong understanding of food regulations, safety standards, and labeling requirements is essential.
  • Preferred: Experience with Hamilton Grant.

Core Competencies

  • Develop and revise product specifications for both branded and private label items, ensuring compliance with applicable regulations.
  • Draft and review packaging content, verifying and approving artwork.
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams, including NPD, R&D, Quality Assurance, and Production, to gather necessary information and provide technical assistance.
  • Conduct regular reviews of specifications to maintain accuracy and relevance.
  • Manage the specification approval workflow, ensuring timely processing and adherence to guidelines.
  • Ensure that nutrition, health, and marketing claims comply with relevant regulations and advertising standards.
  • Maintain a well-organized and current database of specifications and related documentation.
  • Keep abreast of industry trends and regulatory changes to ensure compliance and recommend enhancements.
  • Provide technical guidance on specifications-related issues to internal stakeholders.
  • Participate in audits and inspections, assisting in the resolution of compliance issues.

  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with a collaborative approach.

Additional Information

  • Budget Responsibility: None
  • This position offers flexibility to work remotely within the UK, with occasional travel as needed.
  • Reports to the Group Specifications Manager.
