Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Structures Engineer to join our team at Ringway Jacobs. As a key member of our Highway Structures team, you will be responsible for designing and implementing structural maintenance and refurbishment projects on highway structures.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design Management: Manage bridge data, emergency call-outs, NRSWA compliance, and budget control while mentoring junior staff.
  • Structural Refurbishment and Replacement: Work on structure refurbishment, assessment, and replacement projects, using your expertise in structural design codes, DMRB, MCHW, and CDM regulations to deliver high-quality results.
  • Health and Safety: Support Health and Safety, Environmental Management System, Quality Management System, and Construction in a positive and constructive manner, with the aim of minimising work-related injuries by implementing Essex Highways policies and procedures.
  • Advice and Expertise: Offer advice and expertise in the delivery of work based on engineering knowledge and experience.
  • Communication: Provide timely and accurate advice to County Councillors, District Members, Parish Councils, and the public on all structures-related matters as required.
  • Business Acumen: Understand the overall functions, aims, and directions of Essex Highways, and how the structures service fits into those objectives.

Requirements

  • Design Knowledge: Design knowledge with Eurocodes and modern standards, DMRB.
  • Health and Safety Legislation: Knowledge and application of Health and Safety legislation including Construction (Design & Management) Regulations.
  • Relationship Building: Ability to build and maintain effective working relationships with people both internally and our supply chain partners.
  • Driving Licence: Hold a valid driving licence as attending site visits will be required.
