Senior Genomics Data Scientist

Genomics England is seeking a highly skilled Senior Genomics Data Scientist to join our Bioinformatics Consulting team. As a key member of our team, you will take the lead on genome analysis and interpretation projects in rare or complex diseases in collaboration with external researchers and partners.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and implement custom computational analyses on omics datasets to address research questions.
  • Develop high-quality reports and statements of work to communicate findings to stakeholders.
  • Contribute to the development of new approaches to genome analysis and publish research findings.
  • Provide expertise on genomic datasets and analytical approaches to support research projects.
  • Benchmark and enhance tools for data analysis to improve efficiency and accuracy.

Requirements:

  • PhD in Computational or Statistical Genetics.
  • Strong programming skills in R and Python, with expertise in statistical genetics.
  • Experience with next-generation sequencing data and human genetics research.
  • Expertise in human disease genetics, rare disease genomics, and cloud computing.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to communicate with diverse stakeholders.
