Role Summary:
The Lead Quantity Surveyor will oversee significant financial activities within the organization, ensuring that all projects are managed efficiently and effectively. This role involves direct responsibility for the training and supervision of junior staff and surveyors, while also maintaining high productivity levels.
Key Responsibilities:
- Drive sales performance and meet profit targets.
- Oversee the preparation of tenders, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
- Maintain and analyze cost information, producing monthly valuations.
- Foster strong client relationships to enhance contract retention and identify new business opportunities.
- Exercise sound commercial judgment to mitigate financial risks.
- Ensure a strong site presence to accurately reflect on-site conditions.
- Support the development of Trainee Surveyors.
- Promote company values consistently.
Branch Responsibilities:
Assigned to the North West Branch, the Lead Quantity Surveyor will report directly to the Branch Manager and will be responsible for:
- Understanding and implementing Health & Safety protocols in all tenders and contracts.
- Producing accurate estimates aligned with client specifications.
- Reviewing contract documentation to identify and mitigate risks.
- Developing method statements tailored to branch needs.
- Establishing and maintaining relationships with subcontractors and suppliers.
- Monitoring ongoing contract costs and addressing any discrepancies.
- Ensuring compliance with company policies and procedures.
Team Development:
In this role, you will also be responsible for:
- Recruiting and managing commercial and administrative staff.
- Ensuring work is completed to achieve forecasted gross margins.
- Participating in monthly contract portfolio reviews.
- Monitoring cost allocations to ensure accuracy and timeliness.
Financial Management:
Key financial duties include:
- Managing invoicing processes to meet company targets.
- Overseeing the collection of aged debts.
- Conducting audits on purchases and timesheets to prevent fraud.
- Contributing to commercial tender decisions and pre-tender submissions.
- Engaging in negotiations regarding final accounts and contractual matters.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Strong financial and operational awareness.
- Proven leadership capabilities.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
- Full UK driving license.
- Experience in managing various contracts effectively.
Professional Requirements:
