Role Summary
The Clinical Laboratory Assistant plays a vital role in supporting the pathology laboratory operations. We invite applications for a full-time position within the Blood Sciences department, which encompasses Haematology, Blood Transfusion, and Biochemistry, including Point of Care Testing.
The successful candidate will be expected to work core hours on a rotational basis across various sections of the department, ensuring flexibility to accommodate both day and late shifts.

Main Responsibilities
- Perform tasks under supervision while adhering to established Standard Operating Procedures.
- Engage in in-service training to complete the competency logbook.
- Collaborate with supervisors to deliver essential training to new team members.
- Handle frequent telephone inquiries regarding stock requests, result dissemination, and call direction.
- Address face-to-face inquiries related to pathology services.
- Coordinate the dispatch of consumables to service users.
- Resolve daily operational challenges, including mislabelled specimens and sample volume issues.
- Prepare and sort high volumes of work for daily diagnostic testing.
- Prioritize tasks to meet turnaround times, including urgent and emergency requests.
- Organize daily workloads, ensuring efficient pre-analytical processes for sample testing.
- Work closely with supervisors to implement business continuity plans during service disruptions.
- Input patient identification and other relevant data into laboratory systems while maintaining focus in a busy environment.
- Recognize the importance of accurate sample processing to uphold patient care standards.
