Position Overview

An exceptional opportunity has arisen through additional funding aimed at enhancing patient rehabilitation within specialized neurorehabilitation wards. We are introducing several positions for Neurorehabilitation Fitness Specialists to support our mission of improving rehabilitation outcomes.

This innovative role is integral to the redesign of our services, focusing on increasing the intensity and effectiveness of rehabilitation efforts.

The Neurorehabilitation Fitness Specialists will collaborate closely with the therapy teams on the neurorehabilitation wards, working alongside physiotherapists, occupational therapists, speech and language therapists, and dietitians. We are committed to fostering innovative practices and supporting the professional development of our staff. Opportunities for apprenticeships may be available as funding permits.

Main Responsibilities

The Neurorehabilitation Fitness Specialists will be integral members of the Allied Health Professionals team on the neurorehabilitation wards, contributing to a multidisciplinary approach to patient care.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Supporting exercise programs and utilizing equipment to promote functional tasks through repetition, thereby enhancing rehabilitation intensity.
  • Monitoring and maintaining exercise, postural management, and seating equipment.
  • Identifying and implementing innovative strategies to boost physical activity among patients.
  • Providing assistance in specialized rehabilitation programs, including swallow rehabilitation and cognitive rehabilitation, under the guidance of relevant therapy teams.
  • Encouraging and motivating patients to regain independence, while effectively managing resistance to change.
