About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Occupational Therapist to join our dedicated team at Alnwick Infirmary. This part-time position offers an exciting opportunity to work with a diverse patient population, encompassing various specialisms such as stroke rehabilitation, orthopaedics, elderly care, and palliative care.

As a Senior Occupational Therapist, you will play a crucial role in providing comprehensive assessments, diagnoses, and treatment plans tailored to individual patient needs. You will work collaboratively with the multidisciplinary team to ensure seamless therapy pathways and deliver high-quality, individualized care that promotes independence and optimizes recovery.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver a comprehensive Occupational Therapy service within your specialist area(s), adhering to Trust policies and procedures to ensure safety and clinical excellence.
  • Prioritize service provision in your specialist areas, ensuring effective delivery within resource constraints.
  • Collaborate effectively with the multidisciplinary team, providing specialized assessments, diagnoses, and treatment plans using evidence-based clinical reasoning.
  • Manage a defined caseload of patients (often with complex needs), utilizing evidence-based clinical reasoning to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate interventions.
  • Provide leadership and mentorship to junior and support staff through supervision, appraisals, and ongoing professional development.
  • Support service provision across various sites as needed, aligning with the evolving needs of the service.
  • Supervise undergraduate Occupational Therapy students during their practice placements and provide guidance on clinical skills development.

Essential Requirements

  • Diploma/Degree in Occupational Therapy
  • State registration with the Health Professions Council
  • Substantial post-registration experience with relevant experience in your specialist area, including individual and group work.
  • Documented evidence of continuing professional development

Desirable Requirements

  • Postgraduate training relevant to your specialist area
  • Experience of providing services in varied settings, including acute and/or inpatient rehabilitation.
  • Experience of working in a community setting
