Job Summary:

We are seeking a skilled Mechanical Fitter to join our team at Cooper Lomaz, a global leader in the design and manufacture of conveying and seasoning systems for the food industry.

As a Mechanical Fitter, you will be responsible for assembling, tuning, and testing machines before dispatch to customers. This role involves manual handling and requires a high level of attention to detail.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assemble machines to drawings using compressed air tools and ensure all components are properly fitted and secured.
  • Wiring up, running, and testing machines, including exposed live panels, to ensure they meet quality and safety standards.
  • Perform chemical and electro-polishing tasks to maintain equipment and ensure optimal performance.
  • Operate a lathe to perform various operations, including cutting, drilling, and grinding, with suitable training provided.
  • Use handheld power tools, such as drills, grinders, and polishers, to perform tasks efficiently and safely.
  • Perform small welding tasks and spot welding to repair and maintain equipment.
  • Dismantle and repair machinery as needed to ensure optimal performance and extend equipment lifespan.
  • Operate a forklift truck (FLT) to move equipment and materials around the workshop, with full training provided.
  • Perform other duties as reasonably required by your line manager to ensure the smooth operation of the workshop.

Person Specification:

  • Preferred skills include:
  • A valid FLT license
  • Knowledge of how to read engineering drawings
  • Basic electrical skills
  • Welding skills

We are looking for a well-organized and proactive individual with high attention to detail, strong problem-solving, and time management skills. You should be able to work well independently as well as part of a team, maintain a clean and tidy working area, and possess good communication and interpersonal skills.

Training can be provided where necessary to ensure you have the skills and knowledge required to excel in this role.
