About the Role

We're seeking a highly skilled Senior Software Engineer to join our Engineering team. As a key member of our cross-functional team, you will be responsible for enhancing product scalability and usability, helping to deliver features that support our customers' success. Your key areas of focus will include:

  • Supporting product and engineering managers in prioritization, scoping, and leading delivery of product features
  • Writing complex, performant frontend business logic in JavaScript
  • Writing and upgrading UI components using JavaScript and modern frameworks
  • Writing automated tests to assure quality (unit and end-to-end testing)
  • Supporting, mentoring, and coaching other members of the team
  • Working with the rest of our engineering team to enhance quality, scalability, performance, and maintainability
  • Supporting our culture of learning, development, and teamwork
  • Being involved in the entire life-cycle of features, including idea creation, deployment, and longer-term updates and enhancements
About You

We're looking for a confident JavaScript developer with experience working in agile teams as part of a product development environment. You should be comfortable writing unit tests and end-to-end automated tests, able to zero-in on bugs without looking at the code, and passionate about shipping a product you can be proud of. You should also be well-informed on good software development principles and able to implement them pragmatically.

Bonus points if you have experience working with complex web interfaces with large DOM views, writing tests in Jest, Cypress, or Playwright, or working with our stack: C#,.Net (+Core), Java, RabbitMQ, SQL Server, and/or Microsoft Azure.

What You'll Get

We offer a competitive salary between £50,000 and £58,500 depending on experience, with earning potential in the Senior Software Engineer salary band up to £63,500. You'll also receive at least £1,000 per year to spend on professional and personal development, 33 days' holiday per year (including bank holidays), increasing by 1 day each year to a maximum of 40 days, and a paid four-week sabbatical in your fifth anniversary year on top of your holiday entitlement.

Working Details

This is a full-time role, with flexible working hours. We're ideally looking for someone in/around Edinburgh, though we're open to the possibility of this being a remote role (as long as you're in the UK). We're making the most of hybrid working, so you won't need to come into the office every day (unless you want to).
