In the role of Lead Materials Testing Technician, you will oversee and execute materials engineering services, performing inspections and assessments both in the field and within the laboratory environment, while pinpointing potential risks and opportunities for improvement.

This position calls for an individual who is enthusiastic, adaptable to evolving circumstances, and committed to fulfilling client needs while striving to surpass expectations.

Key Responsibilities

Your typical responsibilities will include:

  • Assisting with Sustainability initiatives
  • Upholding safe operational practices for the materials team
  • Ensuring adherence to UKAS accreditation standards
  • Following the site's quality management system
  • Delivering outcomes within project timelines
  • Overseeing equipment calibration processes
  • Recognizing and documenting Best Practices
  • Generating compliance documentation
  • Conducting quality audits
  • Sending samples to external laboratories
  • Allocating testing resources effectively
  • Managing results from suppliers' tests
  • Mentoring and developing junior team members

Ideal Candidate Profile

Required Skills and Experience

  • Proven experience in a UKAS accredited laboratory setting
  • Background in auditing, training, and working with construction materials
  • Capability to operate within defined budgetary constraints
  • Technical expertise in materials
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Access
  • Possession of a valid CSCS card and a full driving license

Preferred Skills and Experience

  • SMSTS certification and membership in a professional organization
