Role SummaryWe are seeking a Service Charge Specialist to join our team. This role offers a competitive salary and the possibility of occasional travel. You will assist the Service Charge Manager and collaborate with both internal and external stakeholders to ensure that service charges are accurately and consistently established for all projects undergoing the approval process. You will also oversee the annual review of rent and service charges in conjunction with our external partners and internal stakeholders.
Key ResponsibilitiesYour responsibilities will include:
- Developing service charge models during the initial phases of our internal project approval process in collaboration with Development teams.
- Reviewing service charges prior to the second phase of our internal project approval process, ensuring all modifications from the first phase are addressed or justified.
- Assessing and adjusting service charges before the operational handover of schemes, obtaining sign-off from the Service Charge Manager.
- Updating our internal Housing Management System, Brolly, with finalized service charges prior to leasing or selling properties.
- Coordinating with Development teams and managing agents to ensure timely receipt and verification of updated budgets.
- Maintaining the service charge model to reflect changes in cost schedules and other variable factors.
- Serving as the primary contact for customer inquiries and complaints regarding service charges that cannot be resolved by our management providers.
- Contributing to internal and external audits, regulatory submissions, and performance reporting.
We are looking for candidates who possess:
- Demonstrated experience in service charge budgeting and reconciliation.
- Knowledge and familiarity with the affordable housing sector.
- A strong understanding of the significance of building and nurturing relationships for the benefit of all parties involved.
- Insight into key service charge regulations.
- Experience with Housing Management Systems and the importance of maintaining accurate information within these systems.
- A keen interest in developing systems that enhance service charge setting and reporting.
- Ability to address customer inquiries and complaints related to service charges.
